Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Full-Time

We are seeking an LPN for our busy, fast-paced, multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center.  The position is 30 hrs/week, Monday-Friday. Our facility offers an excellent benefit package which includes Health, Dental, Vision, Disability and Life Insurance as well as PTO time, Holiday Pay and a generous 401(k) Plan.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the preoperative registration of patients.  Provides safe, quality patient care in the perioperative area.  Accountable for providing basic nursing care under the direction and supervision of an RN.  In complex nursing care situation the LPN functions as an assistant to the RN and facilitates care by carrying out selected aspects of the designated nursing regimen to assist the RN in the performance of nursing care.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Obtain registration information for preoperative patients, including demographic verification, review of submitted online patient registration and paperwork from surgeon’s offices, which includes (but not limited to) History & Physical. Will review and ensure patients and surgeons offices adhere to center policies and pre-operative testing guidelines. 
  • Assesses patient status on admission to the preop area, the procedure room and/or the post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
  • Provides safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities.  Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge. Documents interventions and patient’s responses.
  • Ensures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.
  • Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information including, RNs, surgeons, anesthesia, management and other staff.
  • Safely carries out physician’s orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities.
  • Takes part in pre and post-op phone calls and communicates any problems to the appropriate person.
  • Maintains competencies to function in LPN role within specific area.
  • Maintain competencies in airway protection, assessment and support of sedated patients.
  • Correlates clinical data with nursing care. Provides the patient with care measures congruent with his/her age, sex and health status.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, prioritizes work to meet the changing needs of the department.
  • Document and perform nursing care in assigned area based on standards of care and practice, and PSC policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow direction and work under the supervision of an RN.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed and/or requested by Manager.

Education/Training Level Qualifications:

  • LPN from a licensed school and license in good standing with WA State.
  • 2+ years’ experience; prefer outpatient surgery center experience
  • CPR Certified

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients and other staff members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication for high level communications
  • Strong knowledge of computers to utilize Electronic Health Record program effectively.

Working Conditions/Environment & Required Skills:

  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service, including injections.  Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.

Perioperative RN - OR Circulator (Full-Time)

We have an immediate opening for an experienced RN OR Circulator.  The position is full time, 30 hours/week with the following benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Disability and Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Holiday Pay, Lunch provided, no weekend work and a generous 401(k) Plan. 

Job Summary:

Provides safe, quality patient care in the perioperative area.   Accountable for the assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assesses patient status on admission to the operating room and/or the post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
  • Provides safe, therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities.
  • Ensures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.
  • Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information including, surgeons, anesthesia, management and other staff.
  • Safely carries out physician’s orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities.
  • Displays an understanding of each patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care.

  • Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique and universal precautions.

Education/Training Level Qualifications:

  • RN from a licensed school and license in good standing with Washington State.
  • Prefer 2 years’ experience working as RN in an Operating Room.
  • CPR, ACLS & PALS certified

Surgical Technologist (Full Time)

We have an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for our busy, fast-paced, multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center.  The position is 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday. Job Summary:

Responsible for the preoperative planning and preparation for surgical intervention, individualized to meet the needs of each patient and his/her surgeon, applying age-specific guidelines. Scrubs on all surgical specialties, aides in the preparation and discharge of the surgical patient, including patient transport and transfer.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure; maintains knowledge of surgical preference (scrub, gown, and glove). Sets up sterile table with instruments, sutures, blades, electrosurgical equipment, suction, and solutions needed for procedure.
  • Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Helps to drape the sterile field. Prepares sterile dressings. Follow rules of asepsis; conscientiously carries out contamination control measures. Manages contaminated instruments and supplies during and after operative procedure to prevent spread of infection. Verifies exposure to sterilization process and integrity of sterile packaging.
  • Anticipates surgeon's needs, such as instruments, sponges sutures, and places them in his/her hand in a manner that the surgeon need not divert attention from the operative field, as reported by feedback from surgeons. Displays dexterity in the use of surgical instruments throughout the procedure.
  • Observes patient for unusual responses. Identifies unusual or emergency situations and utilizes sound judgment to correct and institute established procedures, in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Counts sponges, needles, and instruments with circulator prior to procedure and before incision is closed. Checks trays and equipment for completeness. Counts contain signature of surgical technologist on operative record. Events are factually documented and records are legible and complete. Unusual events are reported to circulator.
  • Assists other members of team with terminal cleanup of room, in readiness for next patient
  • Supports and enforces infection control practices, including body substance isolation and the use of personal protective equipment. Complies with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Checks all equipment for working order and reports or corrects unusual conditions. Inspects emergency equipment and supplies for condition and quality on a daily basis
  • Adheres to the Association of Surgical Technologist's (AST) code of ethics at all times in relationship to patients and all members of the healthcare team. Maintains professional standards for conduct, patient care and patient confidentiality. Reports any unethical conduct or practice of health care team members to proper authority.
  • Collaborates effectively with other team members. Supports, encourages and assists others. Seeks compromise and (win/win) resolutions to conflict, as observed by Supervisor and peers.

Required Knowledge, Attributes and Abilities:

Surgical / Instrument Processing Technician (Part Time)

We have an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist to float between scrubbing and working as an Instrument Processing Technician.  The position is part time, Monday-Friday. Our facility offers an excellent benefit package which includes PTO time, Holiday Pay and a 401(k) Plan.

Job Summary:

Scrubs on all surgical specialties, aides in the preparation and discharge of the surgical patient, including patient transport and transfer. Performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
  • Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
  • Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays, and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner.
